Sustainability at Funky Buddha: our current commitments and progress
Funky Buddha is working to reduce the environmental impact of how we design, produce, and distribute our clothing. This is a long-term, ongoing effort, and we want to be transparent about where we currently stand and what remains a work in progress.
Our environmental targets are guided by the UN Global Compact principles. Concretely, this includes increasing our use of certified fibers such as GOTS-certified organic cotton, European flax linen, and Lenzing Tencel, sourced and verified through named certification bodies and suppliers. As of today, certified sustainable fabrics account for a small percentage of our fabric sourcing, and we are working toward a specific, dated target with progress reported annually and published on our website. Any product labeled recycled, organic, or eco-friendly on our tags refers to a specific certification, such as GRS for recycled content or GOTS for organic cotton, rather than a general marketing claim, and certificate details are available on request.
According to Nikos Alexiou, CEO of ALTEX S.A., the holding company of Funky Buddha production volumes are closely aligned with actual sales data to reduce excess inventory and waste, with current overstock rates measured and tracked against a stated baseline year.
We recognize we are at an early stage of this work and don't consider it complete. We will continue to publish specific, verifiable updates on our progress rather than general claims, and we welcome scrutiny of our data.
